Weed Control Without Chemicals
Occultation works by blocking sunlight and trapping heat and moisture under the tarp. As the soil warms, dormant weed seeds are triggered to germinate — but instead of growing, they sprout into a dark, air‑starved environment where they can’t survive. Over a few weeks, the weeds break down naturally as worms and soil organisms consume them. After three to four weeks (or around six in winter), you’re left with a clean, composted stale seedbed and dramatically fewer viable weed seeds in the top layer of soil.
100% Waterproof
Our covers are born waterproof and are made from XF Film which ensures exceptional strength, durability, and reliability.
UV Resistant
Designed for extended outdoor use, they will not peel, crack, or disintegrate under harsh sunlight, making them ideal for Australia’s extreme weather conditions.
Made From XF Film
ARK Weed Control Tarps use Swiss‑patented XF Film for superior strength and long‑term reliability. Our specialised production method makes them unlike any other tarp in the industry.
Better Weed Supression
With vapour‑barrier performance trusted in commercial fumigation, our tarp creates the warm, moist environment needed for faster, more effective weed suppression.
Double Sided Colour
These tarps feature a UV‑protected black and silver dual‑colour design. Use the black side up to boost heat for weed suppression, or switch to the silver side in hotter months to avoid overheating the soil.
Strong & Reliable
Built with multi‑directional lamination, our tarps deliver superior strength and field durability. Unlike basic black plastic, they stay strong even when cut to size.
Frequently Asked Questions
Weed Control Tarps are made from a specialised Swiss‑patented film called XF Film. It is UV‑stabilised to ensure durability and strength for long‑term use.
Both Weed Control and Silage Tarps are made from the same XF Film material. The main differences are the application they are used for and that the Weed Control range includes a thicker 120 GSM option.
The Weed Control Tarp is dual‑coloured: black on one side and silver on the other. Both sides are UV protected, and you can use either side facing the sun.
We recommend placing the black side facing up. This absorbs heat and creates a warm environment underneath the tarp, helping to suppress weeds more effectively.
We offer a range of large Weed Control Tarp sizes suitable for agricultural and garden use. Please refer to our size chart for exact dimensions and weights.
Yes! You can cut the tarp with scissors to your desired size. All tarps are fully heat‑sealed, so the edges will not fray or peel after cutting.
These tarps are designed to withstand harsh outdoor conditions including UV exposure, rain, and wind. With proper care, they can be reused for multiple seasons and will last a long time.
Results vary depending on weed type, bed preparation, and how well the tarp edges are sealed. Generally, you should see results within 4–6 weeks.
No tarp can permanently stop weeds from returning. Weed Control Tarps may not fully kill perennial weeds, but they will weaken them significantly, making removal easier.
You can secure the tarp using weights such as sandbags or rocks. Some growers also bury the edges in soil for extra stability. Our sandbags are a great option for holding the tarp firmly in place.
Yes, the tarps are completely waterproof, preventing water from reaching the soil. You can remove them periodically if watering is required.
